Whether your documents are headed overseas or came from another country, we help you understand the process, notarize what's needed, and route your papers to the proper authority.
River Rock provides apostille facilitation and document handling services. Government authorities issue apostilles — not River Rock. We cannot guarantee issuance and do not provide legal advice.
The basics
An apostille is a government-issued certificate that verifies the signature or seal on a public document so it is recognized in another Hague Convention country.
Authentication (also called legalization) serves the same purpose for countries outside the Convention, and often includes an embassy or consulate step.
River Rock handles the legwork: reviewing your documents, notarizing when needed, submitting them to the proper authority, and arranging their return.
Documents for international use
Hague Convention
Hague Convention countries
One certificate from the proper U.S. authority — the Texas Secretary of State, another state's office, or the U.S. Department of State — is generally all that is needed.
Non-Hague countries
Usually a multi-step process: state certification, U.S. Department of State authentication, then the destination country's embassy or consulate. Tell us the country and we'll explain the general path.
U.S. to abroad
We help identify which authority handles your document and whether notarization is needed first.
Abroad to the U.S.
An apostille for a foreign document must come from the country that issued it. We can point you toward that process and notarize related U.S. paperwork.
